Dr. Gary Waissi

Dean
School of Global Management & Leadership
Arizona State University

Welcome students, alumni, businesses, and friends. We are pleased to launch the School of Global Management and Leadership (SGML) website. The goals of this website are:

    1. to provide a state of the art tool for prospective and current students,

    2. to connect SGML with alumni, businesses, and strategic partners,

    3. to convey information about the latest highlights, successes and achievements of our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends, and

    4. to inform the SGML community about new programs, initiatives, research and partnerships.

We have been extremely busy developing new programs and exploring new opportunities that reflect the goals and objectives set forth in our new Strategic Plan. The Plan was unanimously endorsed by faculty and staff in January 2007. The Plan calls for SGML to become nationally recognized in globally oriented management education and research by 2011. This is a lofty vision for SGML, but I am confident that we can reach it.

The Dean's Advisory Council (DAC) also plays a significant role in helping SGML to implement the Strategic Plan and to interface with the local and regional business community. We have grown the Council from 14 to 50 members

Last year the Arizona Board of Regents approved creation of the Center for Responsible Leadership. Dr. David Waldman serves as the director of the Center. The Center will conduct leadership research and training that will promote responsible and ethical leadership at all levels in private and public organizations.

This Fall 2007, we welcomed the inaugural cohorts into our two new master's programs, Master of Applied Leadership and Management (MALM) and Master of Accountancy (MAAL). Both programs are highly focused, contemporary 30-credit graduate degrees designed to develop a new generation of globally oriented and competitive leaders.
